Give http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ a try. Once you reach the "Down For Everyone Or Just For Me" website, you must enter the actual web address of the website that appears to be unreachable (not an alternate address for the site) and you must leave out the http://. For example, to check on PubMed, you have to enter --

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

-- entering pubmed.gov or http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov won't work. Entering an alternate web address (like pubmed.gov) may produce a message saying that the website in question is down when the website is actually functioning properly. (We can't guarantee the accuracy of the info from this website. It's just something that you might like to try. Some librarians have found it useful.)
