Q. How do I cite a guideline from the National Guideline Clearinghouse?

Answer

Most of the guidelines in the National Guideline Clearinghouse are actually journal articles. The source information can be found at the top of the guideline page. Using that citation information, construct your reference in your required format and use the URL from the Clearinghouse at the end of your citation. For example:

American Diabetes Association, Bantle J.P., Wylie-Rosett J., Albright A.L., Apovian C.M., Clark N.G., Franz M.J., ... Wheeler M.L.(2008). Nutrition recommendations and interventions for diabetes: A position statement of the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes Care, 31(Suppl 1), S61-78. Retrieved from http://www.guidelines.gov/content.aspx?id=12188.
