Q. I've followed the instructions for dealing with a Write-n-Cite III "length is null" error message. Now I'm getting a "no valid references" error.

Answer

This happens to many people who follow the instructions for removing the {{}} that can cause length is null error messages. We get so excited about having found and gotten rid of the {{}} that we miss the final step in the instructions -- converting the document back to a Write-n-Cite III document.

All you need to do is use the Write-n-Cite III "Tools" menu to "Convert to WNC III document." You will see Write-n-Cite III work through your document reinserting hidden code behind the visible in-text citation code.

When the conversion is completed, save the document and  try using the Write-n-Cite III "Bibliography" button to "Create bibliography" again. It should work this time. Let us know if you encounter difficulties.
