Q. How should I handle a Google Chrome "Your connection is not private" message when using library resources?
You will see this type of message on occasion when using the library's resources from off-campus.
1. Click on the "Advanced" link.
2. A new pop-up will appear. Click the "Confirm Security Exception" button.
An explanation for the 'security problem.'
The library has to provide resources through a proxy server. The proxy server serves an intermediate between your computer and the information resource server. The proxy server's address (a campus IP address) is seen by the information resource server (e.g. Clinical Key) and the server then knows that you are a licensed user of its material. All your computer knows is that the proxy server's address, doesn't match the address of the final destination server (e.g. Clinical Key) so your computer will think something funny may be going on and will warn you of that fact.
