Write-n-Cite 4 (WNC 4) will not work in Word 2016 for Mac.  Click here for more information if you have Word 2016.

If you have an earlier version of word for Mac, Write-n-Cite will work.  WNC 4 is not as easy to spot in Word for Mac as it is in Word for Windows. Go to the "View" menu in Word for Mac.  Click on "Toolbars."  Is the Write-n-Cite, RefWorks, or Proquest option checked?

A screenshot of the section of the "View" drop-down menu that contains the "Toolbars" option and the side menu that appears when you hover over "Toolbars. The checked "Write-n-Cite" option is shown.

If not click on the option to check it.

A tiny toolbar will appear.  It can easily blend into the background so you will need to look for it carefully.  It looks something like the toolbar shown below, but may be on top of your Word header.

The red arrow in the screenshot above is pointing to the "insert citation" icon.  If the little icons are grey (not in color) on your toolbar, you will need to click on the "person" icon and login using your RefWorks username and password.  It will take a minute or two for your RefWorks data to download to your computer.  You will then be able to begin inserting citations.
