McGoogan Library does not have an institutional license/subscription to Covidence or Rayyan. Review teams are responsible for purchasing and managing the screening tool of their choice.

There are tools that can assist with managing the screening process in a systematic or scoping review, or other type of evidence synthesis project. It is recommended, when working on a systematic or scoping review, that there are at least two independent reviewers to screen all studies.

Covidence

  • Covidence is a web-based platform that helps manage, organize, and streamline systematic reviews and other large-scale literature reviews. This tool screens titles and abstracts, full text, and assists with data extraction. Paid version required.

Rayyan

  • Rayyan is a web-based platform that supports teams managing large literature reviews, such as systematic and scoping reviews. This tool screens titles and abstracts, provide blinded review and conflict resolution, and creates PRISMA flow diagrams. A free version is available, with all features requiring the paid version.

Abstrackr

  • A free screening tool with independent screening with automatic conflict detection, PRISMA table, and a ranking queue that learns your inclusion criteria. Good for solo and team-based projects.

Learn more about screening tools, and the systematic/scoping review process, on our Systematic Review library guide. You can schedule a time to meet with a systematic review librarian to learn more about tools and resources to help support your evidence synthesis project.
